That is strange... looks like you are having an issue with interrupts or
with the disk. Are you using CONFIG_PREEMPT ? If yes, try disabling it.

Hrm... What excact model of iMac G5 is this (what video card, what is
in /proc/device-tree/model) ? Does the kernel have my latest SMU
driver ?
