has anyone tried
dmesg | grep DVD
hdX
hdparm -d1 /dev/hdX
It makes a huge difference for me on an iMac 400Mhz to the point where
DVDs are playable. Xine seems like a hog on my system; xxvlc and ogle
play well on my system, but then again i don't know if these do what you
want to do.
