Actually, hoary installs with 2.6.10 as default. I didn't have it
because I upgraded from sarge to sid to hoary all the while keeping the
sarge 2.6.8 kernel. I couldn't find the 2.6.10 under the ubuntu
repositories because of it is not under "kernel-image" but under
"linux-image".

After installing the 2.6.10-5-powerpc ubuntu kernel my iBook now goes to
sleep perfectly, it just doesn't wake up or does quickly followed by a
kernel panic (black screen).

Which leads me to assume that John Steele Scoot either is not using a
iBook G4 as posted, as I am using [an early 2004 ibook G4] or he is
passing a few commands before going to sleep.

What's the scoop Scott?
PS-There is also a case of weird horizontal screen flickers while
adjusting lcd light level.
