Debian on G5 1.6 SP and on dual G5 Xserves

Hi,

I was wondering what the possibilities were for installing debian for
both a 1.6G G5 SP tower and DP G5 xserves on exetrnal firewire HDs. 
I'd like to set things up so that I can plug the HD into the tower and
have it boot from that disk into debian.  I'd also like to be able to
do the same thing for an Xserve.  Is this possible?
