On my sytem i am handling about >100 mailboxes with up to 4000 mails
using headercache. Please check your muttngrc file. Since r234 we
are providing the script grml-muttng in
/usr/share/doc/mutt-ng/samples. Please read
/usr/share/doc/mutt-ng/README.Debian on how to use that script. It
will give you a config at the lowest level, which can be extend to
whatever your need is. Just a hint: delete the headercache file|dir
and restart mutt-ng.
