If you are upgrading from 2.4 to 2.6, you should read Dave Jones Post
Halloween docs [*1*].
Since 2.6.4, you can use vanilla (kernel.org) sources with ppc. If you
want, you can take a look at my config files [*2*].
The only issue I have right now with 2.6.5 is an oops on resuming from
sleep when alsa is loaded [*3*]
