ATI Rage128 video out didn't work
Hi,
I want to use the external video output of my Powerbook G3 Pismo but I can't
get it working.
First I tried m3mirror but this tool does nothing at first. The external video
has no signal.
After rebooting with connected external monitor the monitor got a signal but
only during the short boot period. After my framebuffer console appeared,
it was dark again.
Trying m3mirror again the external monitor got a signal but showed only three
text lines on white ground. The test is not very informative. It looks like
messages from a very early boot stage. This is the only reaction I got from
the external monitor. I can switch the display now with m3mirror but it shows
neither the text console nor the X Screen, only this three lines.
I tried to force Xfree86 (4.3.0) to use the external video output. I set the
Option "Display" to "Mirror" but the videodriver (r128) told me that it will
ignore this option because the framebuffer knows about the right display
device.
I don't know what to do next. I searched the internet but found only hints and
tutorials for the Radeon cards but non for the Rage128.
Can anybody out there help me?
Matthias
