AFAICS, there is no command line tool to put the system to sleep.
pmud comes with snooze, which is real nice.

Also, when I tried pbbuttonsd 0.5.9 on my Pismo yesterday, I had a
number of system freezes.  Since I couldn't reproduce them reliably, I
just deinstalled pbbuttonsd and went back to pmud, which does all I
want.
