radeon 7000 and X

Now that I've booted this machine with debian, I want to use my Radeon
7000 ME to speed up a few things.
This is my XF86Config-4:

Section "Device"
    Identifier "Radeon 7000 ME"
    VendorName "ATI"
    BoardName "Radeon 7000"

# Chipset "generic"

    #Driver "radeon"
    Driver "fbdev"
    Option "UseFBDev" "true"

# BusID "PCI:0:10:0"
# VideoRam 16384
# Clocks 25.2 28.3
EndSection

because my machine only has 1200k of video ram, I can't set resolutions
bigger than 640x480 at 24 bits, is there any way to use the Radeon ram?
(it has 32M)
btw: I'm using woody with kernel 2.2.20-pmac right now, at least until I
can install sarge with a newer kernel.

salud! (cheers!)
