Interesting, with the same configuration? If so, does copying
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/libvgahw.a to /usr/X11R6/lib/modules-dri-trunk/
make a difference?

I'm working on changing the driver not to load the vgaHW module with
Option "UseFBDev", but that's rather tricky... Ben is discussing the
proper solution with the relevant XFree86 people.
