There isn't anything more recent than 2.4.23-ben1 (if that's what
you have) on the 2.4 front yet. I don't remember if my fix for the
iBook G4 made it in time though. You can test my 2.6, it should
work fine.

Thanks a lot, Ben. I've just done a fresh rsync for 2.6.0-ben3 and
built a new kernel (stock .config with only EXT3 and SUNGEM added).
Now both console (no nore flicker) and XFree works fine: I'm actually
able to use F1, F2 to lower/raise display brightness!

So I'll try to do the same (a new fresh rsync) for your 2.4.23 tree,
but with no hurry: now the system is fairly usable.
