New Powerbook 12" + Nvidia problems

Hi guys :)

I've just got a brand new G4 powerbook with the Nvidia graphics chipset.

After much hackery, I've got Debian Woody and XFree86 4.3 (built from source -
hacked files to get nv driver built).

startx now doesn't fail, but what appears isn't even remotely usable - it's a
green/red dot matrix, in which the window outlines are faintly visible.

I found some old archive messages pointing to a hacked nv driver, but I can't
find any info on it.

Would somebody be able to provide a few ideas?

Many thanks,

David

Kernel is 2.4.23-pre5-ben0
