JFTR, Brendan's Powerbook is the old 17" model with the nVidia
graphics card.  I have found that the XFree86 4.3.0 packages that are
now in Debian experimental lead to a hard crash on the new 17" model
with the ATI Radeon graphics card.  You need an even newer Xserver
there, for example from <URL:http://people.debian.org/~daenzer/>.  You
can use those packages with apt-get as well.
