On what hardware?
Besides, opening the lid doesn't wake the powerbook for me. That
actually takes a keypress.
Regarding missing /dev/pmu devices: pmud will log a message to that effect
before exiting if either /dev/pmu or /dev/misc/pmu cannot be opened.
