make-kpkg + rsynced benh kernel = problems

Hello,

I'm trying to compile a new kernel on my ibook ( with debian ppc ).

First I rsynced the benh kernel, and then tried to make a new
kernel package with
make-kpkg binary ( and kernel_image, tried both )
each time it stopped with the following error:

cp: cannot stat 'arch/ppc/boot/images/vmlinux.coff': No such file or
directory

I tried to edit debian/rules and set HAVE_COFF_IMAGE =NO, but it did not
help.

Anyone have susggestions how to fix it? I can of course just compile
a kernel without kpkg, but I prefer to use it. And as I want to
use alsa + mol it is a lot simpler to use kpkg for everything
( dependencies ).

Thanks

Erling
