iMac install: need to shrink UserSpace partition to add Debian

Hi -- I was excited -- just about to get to the task.  I cant erase my 
OSX and OS9 installs, I have software there....

So I wanted to shrink UserSpace and add a ext3 partition there.  Looked 
in /etc/fstab*

Gack !!

How is this done ??
