Problem installing debian on Powerbook Ti

Hi,

Im having trouble installing debian on my apple powerbook Ti G4.

I d/loaded and can boot the latest install CD fine, I type install at the
yaboot boot: prompt which then loads the
kernel and ramdisk image.

However, it then switches to a white displays saying:

. . . ok
opening display /pci@f0000000/ATY,RageM3p12Parent@10/ATY,RageM3p12B.

At that point it hangs and doesn't get any further, the poweroff button
stops working on the PB and I
have to use the small reset button on the back.

My disk has one big HFS+ partition which is empty, and im only interested in
running Debian with
no multi boot options.

Here is a screen capture from the boot process:
(Black screen)
Welcome to yaboot version 0.9
Wrong partition 1 signature
Config file read, 613 bytes
Debian GNU/Linux PowerPC (potato)
boot: (type install and hit enter)
Loading kernel..
Wrong partition 1 signature
   Elf32 kernel loaded
Loading Ramdisk..
Wrong partition 1 signature
(Says something about ramdisk loaded but to quick for me to see)

It then switches to a white screen with the aforementioned error message and
hangs.

Is the Wrong partition 1 signature message something to be concerned about?
I was planning
to use the installer to properly partition my disk for Linux.

I tried zapping the PRAM and resetting the NVRAM but this didn't seem to
have any effect on
the problem :(

Let me know if any other information is needed.

Any help that you guys can offer will be GREATLY appreciated :)

Thanks,
