I had the same problem.
The following should solve it: At the boot prompt of yaboot, enter the
name of your kernel image and append "video=ofonly". If you're using
everything default, type the following:
Linux video=ofonly
To make this change permanent, insert in yaboot.conf after the
appropriate kernel image:
append="video=ofonly"
Don't forget to run ybin to update your boot sector (? - don't know if
boot sector is the right name :-)
With this setting there could be problems using X, but I only have a
working config for 2.4.17benh-kernel and the xserver from testing. So I
can't tell you, how to do this under 2.2.x-Kernels.

using mkofboot --boot [...]. Didn't work.
Is there any way of giving video settings during basic install? If so,
what is it?
Any feedback would be appreciated as I really look forward to logging
on to my new system and configuring it.
