playing DVD on pismo (powerbook)
hello,
i try to make DVD ( xine, mplayer, or whatever else) works on pismo
(powerbook) system, but the video playback is _really_ slow.
i'm running debian sid on a 2.4.19-pre2 kernel.
ppl from xine project said me my DVD drive is to slow to read DVD :
# hdparm /dev/dvd
/dev/dvd:
HDIO_GET_MULTCOUNT failed: Invalid argument
I/O support = 0 (default 16-bit)
unmaskirq = 1 (on)
using_dma = 1 (on)
keepsettings = 0 (off)
HDIO_GET_NOWERR failed: Invalid argument
readonly = 1 (on)
readahead = 4 (on)
HDIO_GETGEO failed: Invalid argument
busstate = 1 (on)
after i tried different setting using hdparm, i get :
# hdparm -t /dev/dvd
/dev/dvd:
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 18.92 seconds = 3.38 MB/sec
.. which is not enough to play DVD as xine project member said me.
btw, i could read DVD using apple player on MacOS, that's why i can't
understand why i can't make it working on linux.
any ideas ?
thanks all
