Doh. I thought it didn't look very informative...
I've put my logfiles at www.hollo.org/linux/X.log.crtscreen and
www.hollo.org/linux/X.log.nocrtscreen. These are both with UseFBScreen
turned off. The only obvious error is about being unable to read the
video BIOS, but it seems to come up with default parameters afterwards
so maybe this is expected.
