Re: Debian GNU/Linux on a TiBook III webpage - still more questions
hi folks
first off a big thanks to christophe for posting this. I started from
scratch and had a new kernel installed easily - the system is running
much cooler. Minor additions to the list:
1. When first installing debian, choose to install the development tool
task, so that you have the required gcc and kernel build tools.
2. For the mouse emulation, the symbolic link should be made via
ln ../init.d/mouse_emulation.sh S99mouseEmulation
(you forgot the init.d part)
Also, what are the keys used to emulate 2/3 button mouse in your script?
I am still stuck on installing X support as follows:
When I try to install Branden's x-window-system and x-window-system-core
I get a message that says there are unresolved dependencies, and a list
of packages which are "needed, but won't be installed", and that the
installation I am attempting is impossible.
for x-window-system:
<handful of xfonts packages>
xbase-clients
xutils
for x-window-system-core:
lbxproxy
proxymngr
twm
xdm
xfwp
wnest
xprpt
xterm
xvfb
E: sorry, broken packages
My guess is that either my upgraded kernel, or these packages, need
access to unstable apt-get servers beyond the simple defaults I
installed (ftp.us.debian.org)?
I have not tried Michael's drm-trunk yet, will install that after XF
4.2 is successfully installed, as I am following Christophe's
directions to the tee.
