   You can get very recent debian jdk 1.3.1 packages built by blackdown
at 

http://people.debian.org/~gibreel/debian/pool/non-free/j/j2se1.3-powerpc/
   
and

http://people.debian.org/~gibreel/debian/pool/main/j/j2se-common/

You will minimally need to install j2se-common_1.1_all.deb and
j2re1.3_1.3.1.02b-2_powerpc.deb to have the run-time installed.
