More or less. It uses the same codecs from ffmpeg that xine
SEEMS to use and which mplayer uses for decoding some avi
files (the "interesting" ones), in a platform independent way.
AFAIK, ffmpeg is open source.
Not all of the codecs used are win32 dlls.
