Kernel/Framebuffer problems on oldworld

Hello,

after I successfully installed Debian 2.2r3 on my Umax Pulsar (96MB RAM total, IMS TT graphic board), I swapped the card with an Matrox Millenium II (much better).
I have some quite strange problems (for me), after something in machine died away and left my 2nd CPU unusable while copying Mac OS onto another (faster) hard disk.
Since then my graphics board stops with the inital screen showing up, but obviously the system comes up correctly. I tried several different kernel versions and even more settings, especially in the Console driver menu.
Even the old SMP-kernels won't boot (at first I thought it could be due to the fact the there wasn't any 2nd CPU any more).
But I'm capable of booting the system using the original Debian kernel (2.2.19). There the fb is initialised correctly, so the screen shows Mac OS' resolution (1024x768@75).
I'm still not sure if I missed any configure option, so I would be very thankfull for everyone giving some advice/having some suggestions.

Cheers
Christian
