OK thanks, now console is running correctly (even login, why now and not before, that's the question), I almost get X keymap working, but, as I'm a french user, i use a french keyboard, and I do not have special characters : "pipe", "backslash", "tilde", ...

is any frech user has any advice to give me?

here is my keyboard config file :

Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier "Keyboard"
        Driver "Keyboard"

        Option "AutoRepeat" "500 30"
        Option "CoreKeyboard"
        Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
        Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
        Option "XkbLayout" "fr_FR"
EndSection
