The problem is that the kernel binary that works
for my mouse is not the original potato kernel,
but an image that I got off the web. I'm pretty
sure I tried to compile a kernel using the
/boot/config-2.2.19 options and that didn't
help. But since I'm not absolutely sure, I'll try
that right now.
