Hi!

I'm trying to install woody onto a G4 Cube using Ethan's current
preferred method (drop the relevant files on the root of the relevant
volume, craft a yaboot.conf, reboot into OF, etc) using the current
version of boot-floppies. Here is the entirety of my yaboot.conf:

image=linux
label=install
initrd=root.bin
initrd-size=8192
append="video=ofonly"

The command I'm using from OF to boot is

boot hd:,yaboot

and then I type 'install' at the yaboot prompt. I get a 'Loading
ramdisk' message (with something that follows immediately afterwards
too quickly to read), the screen blanks, and then it comes back with a
white OF screen with these words:

... ok
copying OF device tree...done
Calling quiesce ...

DO-QUIESCE finishedbooting...

and hangs.

is this an ibook2 (the ibook that doesn't look like a toilet seat)?
benh reported that 2.2 does this on these machines, and 2.2 isn't
exactly supported on any of apple's new hardware.

we need to add a 2.4 flavor for powerpc boot-floppies.

FFS ! RTFM ! ;)

Hmm, actually just passing "video=ofonly" makes the Debian 2.2r2 CD boot alright, that's how I installed the base Debian on mine about a week (or was it two ?) ago. (that plus some potato built wireless-tools that need to be forced install, and some dodgy xfsprogs and rsync combo to convert the whole thing to xfs... a mess)

Cheers
