iBook2: Timekeeping and keyboard

Hello!

I just installed 2.2r3 on my iBook2, following the Debian manual closely. Everything runs smoothly, even triple booting works fine! But then, I haven't installed much more than the base system and run "tasksel -s", ie no X or anything. Even so, I have a few questions:

The Linux system clock was getting ahead several seconds per minute. Why? What is the basis for Linux timekeeping? This was solved by installing adjtimex and edit a boot script. However, when I (as root) try "adjtimex --compare" the response is "unable to open /dev/port read/write :: device not configured". What am I doing wrong?

Another theme: After I run "dumpkeys -l", the "A" key gives nothing when pressed (although it gives "A" when pressed together with shift!) and I can't get it to work again. Why does this happen? "showkey" says that its keycode is 0, and "dumpkeys" says that the kernel accepts 1-127 as keycodes. So I thought that using "setkeycodes", I could fix things. But I can't change anything with "setkeycodes"! Even trying "setkeycodes 0 120 1 1" (cf. bug #71768) as root gives nothing. What am I missing??

Thanks in advance if you decide to help me! And sorry for wasting everybody elses time with questions about the potato without X...
