It may just be broken (again). I remember a friend of mine trying the
ReiserFS code that was in the 2.4.1 kernel, and the unlink() syscall code
in the ReiserFS code caused an Oops reliably. So I wouldn't be surprised
if it was just plain broken.
As others have suggested, try Ext3, or XFS, or maybe JFS. JFS was kinda
broken for awhile, but presently works well, and the endianness issues
seem to have been worked out awhile back, so it might be worth a shot. I
have the 1.0.5 code in my 2.4.9 kernel on my x86 system, and should
probably see about switching back toward it on my G3 tower at work. (and
maybe the iBook I've been playing with too...)
