yes and yes.

more accurately nvidia crap is not supported by linux in general (not
at all on powerpc, and not very well on i386 either).  

my advice is replace the video card with something less proprietary.

for now you must add `append="video=ofonly" to your /etc/yaboot.conf
and use X in offb mode only (others will have to help you with that). 

this configuration will be slower then frozen snot on an alaskan
doorknob unfortunatly.
