That sort of does it - the LCD turns off, and the CRT gets some signal.
The monitor OSD says fh=0, fv=153 Hz and refuses to display anything. Time
to break out the scope :-)

While XFree isn't quite there yet, here's my quick and dirty solution
(works for me on Lombard, should also work on Rage LT-G, no warranty,
yadda yadda). X doesn't seem to mind you fudging with the Mach64 setup too
much, but it'll restore to whatever was set up at the last VT switch.
