I believe it's called MACE, and should be supported on the default kernel.
Try running:
$ dmesg | grep MACE
eth0: MACE at 00:05:02:a2:9f:1a, chip revision 25.64
(The above was on my 7300, which uses a less buggy but similar nic).
If this shows up, then probably you just need to configure the ethernet.
