ok, this might have something to do with it, what is /dev/sdb1 ?  if
its your / filesystem then that would explain the problem.
yabootconfig requires that the bootstrap partition be on the same disk
as your root partition.  getting around that is tricky since i would
need to figure out all the disks you have and search them all... 

can you run:

/bin/sh -x yabootconfig 2>&1 > yabootconfig.trace 

and mail me the .trace file?
