you didn't read the docs close enough, you neglected to specify
--partition 11

that is required and why yaboot is failing.

the problem is yaboot is looking for hd:3,/vmlinux you need to rerun
mkofboot with the additional command line switch --partition 11 like
the docs say and then yaboot will find the kernel just fine.
