what do you mean `kernel path' ? the device node?  you can tell what
your current root device is by looking in /etc/fstab.  or if your lazy
run this command:

df / | grep -v ^File | awk '{print $1}'

update /etc/yaboot.conf and rerun ybin to update the bootstrap.
