So we install PCMCIA stuff by default?  Did you request task-laptop?  I don't think that should be there at all.

termwrap?  Never seen it before.  In fact, no file with "termwrap" anywhere in it appears in potato, woody or unstable.

What CD is this that you got from cheapbytes?  Are you sure it's Debian, version 2.2R2?

The default kernel should be fine...  I have no idea what could be wrong, if you got a real Debian 2.2R2 CD...
