Problem with sox

Hello,

I have a problem concerning the rec command resp. sox. I tried to sample
from the audio input resp. from the built-in micro of my Powerbook Pismo
with the commands:
1. rec t.wav
2. sox -t ossdsp -w -s /dev/dsp t.wav
In both cases I had the same problem, that recording stops at once without
any error messages. The generated file looks like this:

0000000 5249 4646 2400 0000 5741 5645 666d 7420
0000010 1000 0000 0100 0100 401f 0000 803e 0000
0000020 0200 1000 6461 7461 0000 0000
000002c

or in textual representation:

0000000 R I F F $ \0 \0 \0 W A V E f m t
0000010 020 \0 \0 \0 001 \0 001 \0 @ 037 \0 \0 200 > \0 \0
0000020 002 \0 020 \0 d a t a \0 \0 \0 \0
000002c

I'm using Linux version 2.2.17pre20-ben2 and sox in version 12.16-6. Since I
can forward sounds from both audio inputs to the built-in speakers, I assume
that the kernel is not the problem.

Does anybody have an idea what went wrong?

  Marc
