The exact line in your yaboot.conf should be:

macos=/dev/hda1

or

macosx=/dev/hda1

This may require a newer version of ybin than the one in potato. The
packages in woody or potato-proposed-updates will definitely work.

Read the yaboot.conf(5) and ybin(8) man pages for more information.
