There's a conflict because both gnome-panel-data and asclock use
some of the data files. See bug number #67244.

The GNOME stuff in woody is a nightmare. I spent a whole day
(literally) getting it to compile (and I'm still probably missing
things). There are a couple of major problems.

One is that many of the core packages don't include a
Build-Depends line, which means that the build-daemon can't build
them reliably without human intervention. It also means that if
you decide to build them yourself, you'll have to figure out what
development packages you need, find them, and (almost certainly)
build them, only to find that you need still other unbuilt
packages, and so on.

Another big problem is that the current libglade cannot be built
with the current bonobo. The problem's been fixed in CVS, but not
released, and the Debian packages have been updated to deal with
this issue.

Also, the current gnome-control-center is very beta -- lots of
things that used to work don't. (That's assuming you manage to
build the thing in the first place, of course.)

I've filed bunches of bugs on this stuff, we'll see if some of it
gets sorted out eventually.

If you're desperate to have the newest GNOME, your best bet is
probably to track down the HelixCode packages people have compiled
for PowerPC (search the list archive for more information).
