Re: making a cd bootable for a mac

Not really. In what way does it fail? Does the CD try to boot and
give a blank screen? Do you get a prompt?

Not quite, it doesn't recognize the disk as being bootable. That's about it. Startup Disk says the same thing, as does System Disk 3.1 from the Darwin dist. That's why I wondered if there was anything else I needed to do to make it bootable. The cd was burnt with Easy cd creator under windows, but I guess that shouldn't be
the problem.

Did you remember (i know, this needs to be more documented) to hold
down C to boot from CD?

hehe, yes, many times in fact.

I guess I'm also curious if there is anyway to boot from the hard disk and then install from the cd, but I haven't found any documentation on this. Could be because it's not possible. Anyhow, suggestions on alternate install methods are welcome, but, I have no
removeable media, and no other machine to boot it from.

Are there any known issues with booting on the newest macs? The cd
I've made here doesn't seem to work.
