Sorry I missed your first post, but yes I'm also [trying] to use MySQL right now on my Powerbook G3.

I'm using the source distro for MySQL and get the same errors.  I checked the mailing list archives for the MySQL mailing lists and there are several mentions of this error, but no fix.  It appears that this also is happening (or happened) on sparc machines.
