Help: System broken -- more

I realized that I missed to mention that
booting the old kernel fails completely (black screen) but booting
the new kernel produces a lot of output.
The last lines:

Machine check kernel mode.
Caused by (from msr): regs c7149bf0 Machine check signal - probably
                      due to mm fault with mmu off

NIP: some numbers
MSR: some numbers
Task = c 7148000[76] 'insmod' mm->pgd c9d76000 Last syscall 128
    last math 00000000
GPR00 : some numbers
GPR08 : some numbers
GPR12 : some numbers
GPR24 : some numbers
Call backtrace : some numbers
Kernel panic: machine check
Rebooting in 180 seconds

Some ideas what's going wrong?
