All right, sounds good.  After I've gotten the OK from all involved
maintainers, I'll start with that.

Right.  If the adduser maintainers are agreeable to the idea I'll look
into it.

Hmm, in what packages?  The only one I can find is "adduser-ng" which
does not seem to know *anything* about any ranges, it simply calls
"useradd" and "groupadd".  Since it it already range-ignorant, it does
not need to be changed.

(Maintainers of adduser, do you know of any more?)
