[control] continuation lines on relation fields ?

Hi all,

 I've got an interpretation problem: can relationship fields be written
on multiple lines ? 
Lintian (1.20.9) doesn't enforce them to be multi-line ; buildds seem to 
happily handle them.

However, section 3.1 of the Policy (3.5.2) states "Except where otherwise
stated only a single line of data is allowed (...)" ; section 3.2 is utterly
incomplete, and doesn't even report all the contents of the former Packaging
Manual (even without the dpkg implementation details). Section 7.1 doesn't
mention multi-line relationship fields.

Should a sentence allowing multi-line relationship fields be added to
section 7.1, or should lintian be fixed to enforce single-lineness of those
fields ? (the first would be nicer for people who don't like scrolling
horizontally in their editors, the second one might break some scripts)
