Would it be possible (practical?) to print a message, only if
it takes to long to start?

eg:

execute-or-print-message --timeout 60seconds --message "Trying to start package..." --command /etc/init.d/package start

so, if for instance a daemon has a history of hanging, something can
be done to make it easier to debug?
