Bug#62946: [PROPOSAL] Update for new non-US layout
Package: debian-policy
Version: potato
Severity: wishlist
"Debian Policy Manual - Chapter 2, The Debian Archive" needs
an update for potato since it says:
The effort of the Debian project is to build a free operating system,
but not every package we want to make accessible is free in our sense
(see Debian Free Software Guidelines, below), or may be
imported/exported without restrictions. Thus, the archive is split
into the sections main, non-us, non-free, and contrib.
The main section forms the Debian GNU/Linux distribution.
When this was written, non-us was a mix of free and non-free software.
This is no longer true in potato, so I propose to change that to:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
[...]
Thus, the archive is split into the sections main, non-free, contrib,
non-US/main, non-US/non-free, and non-US/contrib.
The main and the non-US/main sections forms the Debian GNU/Linux
distribution.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm looking for seconds for this proposal.
[ We should probably remove the Linux word..., but maybe in another
different proposal. One thing at a time ].
Thanks.
