Bug#40706: AMENDMENT 17/7/99] /usr/share/doc vs. /usr/doc transition

Hi,

The copyrights are accessed far less frequently than the
documentation is. It is more irritating if one looks in
/usr/doc/package, does not find stuff, and has to look in the other
place, several times. Quality of implementation dictates we try to
make common cases work as they did before.

The mainatinaers would probably appreciate a patch, or
something. dhelp has been changed to only look at /usr/share/doc,
 which I think is premature.

You are missing the point. It would be acceptable when one can
look at any *one* directory. Whtehter it is /usr/doc or
/usr/share/doc does not really matter. The problem is the )long)
period of transition, where one has to look at two different places.

You seem to be gnoring the time of transition.
