I'm talking about the exchange quoted above!

Ian said, "Herbert claims to have _lost_ mail," and then you said "I never
claimed that."

If by "that" you meant the bouncing instead of what Ian had just mentioned,
then you performed a context switch without giving any indication of it to your
audience.

When Ian used the phrase "claim that", and then you use the phrased
"claimed that", do you reasonably expect people to twig that you referring
to a different claim than Ian was?

Anyway, this is a semantic issue.  It's not getting us much closer to
resolving that bug one way or the other.
