If by "that" you meant the bouncing instead of what Ian had just mentioned, then you performed a context switch without giving any indication of it to your audience. When Ian used the phrase "claim that", and then you use the phrased "claimed that", do you reasonably expect people to twig that you referring to a different claim than Ian was?
