I disagree.  Linux is diverging from the rest of the Unix community with 
/var/spool/mail; as a software developer, I would prefer consistency.

I would also prefer *not* to see the Linux community follow a Microsoft-ish 
"we have the users, we will dictate the course as we see fit" course.
