I'm running Debian Slink on 20MHz 386, it is an IBM PS/2 80, a
Microchannel machine. It is usable once I got it installed, but
installin is a project for several days. I watch tv while dselect
munches, or press return when I happen to walk by.

I was planning to turn this machine into an X terminal, it has 8514
display adapter. Those versions of Slink I have had there have not
provided a working X, however. Next time I have a week free I'll try
again.

So, if dselect and dpkg are to be made slower still, I do not have the
patience to install this machine. I'm running kernel 1.1.125, I have
slight hope the 2.2 is faster.
